Gerald Sybeldon
July 23, 1930 - July 19, 2009

Gerald Sybeldon, of Antigo, died Monday, July 19, 2009 at Evergreen Terrace under the care of LeRoyer Hospice. He was 78 years old. He was born on July 23, 1930 in Antigo, to Leo and Katherine (Baraniak) Sybeldon.

He graduated from Antigo High School in 1948. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War then worked at the J.C. Penny's store in Antigo for several years. From 1957 until retirement in 1985 Mr. Sybeldon was a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in Antigo. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church where he served as a lector, the Msgr Conrad Saile Knights of Columbus Council 1002, where he was past Grand Knnight and a member of Msgr Conrad Saile Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Assembly 1214 serving in many positions. He also was active in the Benovolent & Protective Order of Elks Lodge #662, where he served as Past Exalted Ruler, chaplain for many years and active with the Teen of The Month Program. He was an avid Chicago White Sox Fan and enjoyed bowling.

Survivors include his, a brother, Michael (Betsy) Sybeldon, Rantoul, ILL, three nieces, Michelle Davis, Rantoul, IL, Kaye McKenzie, Myrtle Beach, S.C., Rhonda Wilson, Rantoul, IL, a nephew, Dennis Bublitz, Battle Ground, Washington, several great neices and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, LeRoy Sybeldon, two sisters, Mildred (Robert) Kestlinger and Helen (Vernon) Bublitz.

Services will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2009 at 10 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church, Antigo with Rev. Charles Hoffmann officiating. Burial will take place in Queen of Peace Cemetery where Antigo Veterans will conduct Military Honors following servcies at church. Visitation will be at the Bradley Funeral Home on Wednesday, from 3:30 to 6 p.m. with a parish wake service at 4 p.m., a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a Elks Lodge of Sorrow at 5 p.m. Visitation will continue Thursday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. also at the Bradley Funeral Home.
