Daniel Honzik
September 19, 1920 - September 22, 2009

Daniel J. Honzik, of Deerbrook, died Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at the Veterans Hospital in Iron Mt. Mich. He was 89 years old. He was born on September 19, 1920 in Neva to Jacob and Elizabeth (Mattek) Honzik. He married Annette Kinski on June 4, 1958 at St. Wencel Catholic Church. She survives.

He is a member of St. Wencel Catholic Church Neva, Sparks-Doernenburg American Legion Post #3, Antigo, Paul Marmes Disabled American Veterans Chapter 23, Antigo.
He was raised in Neva and worked for Mattek's Farm. He served in the United States Army during WWll. He served under General George Patten in Africa and Italy participating in the Battle of Anzio. He later served in the Pacific Theater as part of the Army of Occupation in Japan. Following his marriage he was employed at Windwood Products in Antigo and the Steber Lumber Company in Deerbrook in addition to owning and operating a dairy farm in Neva. He enjoyed woodworking, feeding the birds, gardening, and his family.

Survivors include his wife are four sons, Jeff (Lisa) Honzik, Vista, Calif, Sam Honzik, Neva, Chris Honzik, Neva, Bruce (Jenny) Honzik, Neva, two daughters, Theresa (Jim) Hitz, Bryant, Paula (Harry) Hitt, Antigo, 16 grandchildren, Jake, Kyle, Lance, Daniel, Travis, Joe, Mike, Hunter, Trapper, Tanya, Marie, Ashley Kelsey, Kasey, Katie, and Sarah, five great-grandchildren, Riley, Taylor, Lillie, Peyton, and Gabriel, and a brother, Edward Honzik, Deerbrook.

He was preceded in death by parents, three daughters Beth Honzik, Mary Markgraf, and Jackie Bauknecht, an infant sister Mary Honzik and brother Joseph Honzik

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 25, 2009 at 10 a.m. at St. Wencel Catholic Church, Neva with Rev. Omer Kelley officiating. Burial will take place in St. Wencel Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 3:30 to 7 p.m. with a parish wake service at 4 p.m. and a military honor guard from 6 to 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Friday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home..
