Rudolf Rudy Amberger, of Elcho, died November 12, 2009 at Eastview Medical & Rehabilitation Center. He was 72 years old. He was born on October 11, 1937 in Chicago, IL, to the late Alois and Therese (Hoffmann) Amberger. He married Marie Miller on October 18, 1958 at St. Priscilla Catholic Church in Chicago. She survives.
Mr. Amberger was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Elcho. He volunteered at the church for 23 years doing maintenance and ushering, most recently becoming the head usher.
After grade school he attended a seminary for one year. For the next three years he attended Lane Tech in Chicago. In Chicago he was a truck driver for Murphy Brothers Trucking for 18 years. In 1977 he retired to Elcho and in his retirement he became a jack of all trades and a handyman to anyone who called on him. He enjoyed spending time on the water, gardening and reading about trucks and cars. He enjoyed being around people.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a brother Alois Lou (Mary Ellen) Amber, Elkhorn; a sister Albine Deems, San Diego, CA; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, Elcho with Rev. Jeremiah Worman officiating. Burial will take place in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM on Saturday at the Holy Family Catholic Church, Elcho. Bradley Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
