Evelyn Wells
August 31, 1918 - February 18, 2010

Evelyn Wells of Antigo, died Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Eastview Medical & Rehabilitation Center. She was 91 years old. She was born on August 31, 1918 in Neva, to Frank and Mary (Barta) Cernoch. She married Raymond Schroeder who preceded her in death. On Dec. 5, 1985 she married George Wells, he survives.

She attended Deerbrook grade school and graduated from Antigo High School in 1936. She lived in Milwaukee and worked for Woolworths Department Store for ten years then cooked in a school lunch program for 12 years. In 1974 she moved to Antigo and was employed at Eastview Manor for 18 years retiring in 1994. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, the Langlade County Senior Citizens Club where she volunteered at the craft shop. She enjoyed cutting boughs, fishing, playing cards, flower gardening and quilting.

Survivors including her husband are three sisters Marion Yingling, Greendale, Betty (Gerald) Doucette, and Dorothy (Forest) Bartz all of Antigo; a brother Winfred (Agnes) Cernoch, Antigo; many nieces and nephews. She is further survived by her husbands children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

In addition to her first husband and parents she was preceded in death by five brothers, Norvel Merton, James, Robert and Dale Cernoch.

Services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church with Rev. David Karolus, officiating. Burial will take place in Elmwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday at the Bradley Funeral Home from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. and on Monday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
