Otto Burkhart
March 3, 1931 - March 15, 2010

Otto Burkhart, of Pickerel, died Monday, March 15, 2010 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was 79 years old. He was born March 3, 1931 in Kent, to Rueben and Mary (Weber) Burkart. He married Marvel Fischer on June 10, 1961 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Pickerel. She survives.

He was raised in Kent, lived in Milwaukee for several years designing and sandblasting monuments for Milwaukee Memorials monument company. In 1969 he moved to Pickerel where he owned and operated a dairy farm until retirement in 1994. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Pickerel and the Whitetail Sportsman Club.

Survivors include a son Bryan Burkhart, Pickerel; a daughter Kathy (Patrick) Rettinger, Deerbrook; a son-in-law Dave (Amy) Sturm, Freedom; four grandchildren Heather and Michael Sturm, Lainee Lesselyoung and Mason Sturm; four sisters Alice (Warren) Fuller, Lily, Ruth (Orlyn) Carlson, West Allis, Mary (Raymond) Gibbs, Gresham, Millie Rudella (friend Jim Drew), Milwaukee; five brothers Edwin (Joyce) Burkhart, Summit Lake, Lee (Charlotte) Burkhart, Three Lakes, Ralph (Carol) Burkhart, Sullivan, Floyd (Doris) Burkhart, Bryant, Paul (Helen) Burkhart, Antigo; two sister-in-law Eleanora Burkhart and Janice (Norbert) Schroepfer all of Bryant.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Nancy Sturm, two brothers Wayne and Donald Burkhart, and a sister Leona Parsons.

The funeral mass will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church, Pickerel with Rev. Roger Strebel officiating. Burial will take place in Bent Cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Bradley Funeral Home and 10:00 a.m. until the time of services on Wednesday church.
