Harold Menting
April 28, 1933 - March 14, 2010

Harold G. Menting, of Phlox, died Sunday, March 14, 2010 at home under the care of his family and LeRoyer Hospice. He was 76 years old. He was born on April 28, 1933 in Phlox a son of the late Frank and Cecelia (Heinzen) Menting. He married Jane Waldvogel on June 15, 1957 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Phlox. She survives.

Mr. Menting attended St. Joseph Grade School in Phlox and High School at St. Nazianz Seminary. He worked on his father's farm for three years before joining the United States Army from 1954 - 1956. He then attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering. He was an Electrical Engineer at Marathon Electric in Wausau for 37 years retiring in June of 1997. He was a member of St. Michael's Parish in Wausau before moving to Phlox and becoming a member of St. Joseph Holy Family Catholic Church. He was a member of the Town of Texas Lion's Club in Wausau and the Divine-Menting American Legion Post #525 in Phlox. He enjoyed woodworking, volunteering at the church and taking care of his flowers.

In addition to his wife survivors include two daughters, Susan (John) Schnorr Fond du Lac and Lynn Menting Madison; a son, Larry (Sandy) Menting Howards Grove; three grandsons, Brady Alan, Cory Mitchel and Gary Robert; five sisters, Caroline Watts Chicago, IL, Sr. M. Camilla Menting Eagle River, AK, Mary Ann (William) Bauer Aniwa, Sr. Mary Anthony Menting Merrill and Margaret Menting Kenai, AK; and three brothers, Roman (Eileen) Menting Phlox, Matthew (Evelyn) Menting Phlox, Alvin (Montel) Menting South Bend, IN;

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Gary; daughter, Donna; brother, Robert Menting and sister, Eleanor Menting

Services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. David Keifer and Deacon Tom Hartman officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the Parish Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Wednesday at the Bradley Funeral Home with a parish wake service at 7:30 PM. A second visitation will be 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM on Thursday at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to LeRoyer Hospice.
