In loving memory of

Joanne Marie Stubbs
April 4, 1929 - January 31, 2018

Joanne Marie (Acheson) Stubbs passed peacefully on the night of January 31, 2018, surrounded by children and grandchildren. She was born in Tonasket, Washington on April 4, 1929, to Helen (Hopkins) and Edmund Workosky, their 4th and youngest child.

After graduating from Tonasket High School in 1948, Jo enrolled at the University of Washington and was welcomed as a member of the TriDelt sorority. At the UW, she met her future husband Gary Acheson, and they were married August 19, 1950 in Bellevue.

Jo and Gary had 3 children; Julie, Mike and Kathy, all graduates of the University of Washington. She was a long time member of Bellevue Presbyterian Church.

Jo loved sports, especially Husky football and the Mariners. She was a Husky cheerleader and a 50+ year season ticket holder missing only two football games over the years. In addition, she was an avid bridge player her entire life.

Upon the death of her husband Gary at age 61, Jo married Jerry Stubbs with whom she spent many joyful years, traveling to their cabin on Hood Canal and socializing with friends. Jerry passed away in 2007.

Her consistent love and endless joy throughout her life were her children, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. We all will miss her deeply.

Jo's memorial service will take place at the Gardens at Town Square in Bellevue at 1 pm, February 19. She was so appreciative of the staff at the Gardens who cared for her the past 2 years, and of her special friend John Eans for his unwavering comfort and support.

Jo is survived by her 3 children: Julie (Steve) Mikulic of Portland; Mike (Mary Kay) Acheson of Port Angeles; and Kathy (John) Connors of Bellevue; 13 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. Donations may be made in her name to Bellevue Presbyterian Church, 1717 Bellevue Way NE, Bellevue, WA 98004 or to University of Washington Intercollegiate Athletics, UW Athletic Scholarship Fund, Graves Hall, Box 354070, Seattle, WA 98195.
