Eugene Now
January 18, 1924 - October 22, 2010

Eugene F. Now, of Birnamwood, died Friday, October 22, 2010 at his home under the care of his family and LeRoyer Hospice. He was 86 years old. He was born on January 18, 1924 in Antigo, a son of late Harry and Susan (Mackay) Now. He married Monica Resch on October 30, 1948 in Milwaukee. She survives.

Mr. Now served in the United States Navy during WWII and was a member of American Legion Post 2930 in Portage.

As a young man he test drove motorcycles for Harley Davidson. He was a logger, a mechanic for Sharon Motors and a Diesel Mechanic at Antigo Radar Base. For many years he was a self employed milk hauler retiring as a dairy farmer.

Mr. Now served as a trustee on the Aniwa Village Board. His greatest hobby was collecting and repairing antique radios. He also enjoyed mechanical work, time in the woods, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren. He could fix anything.

In addition to his wife survivors include three daughters, Karen Aulik (Bob Stimac), Antigo, Debra Now (Dave Rueter), Lancaster and Rachelle (Tom) Gladbach, Hartford; a son, Rick (Judy) Now, Antigo; six grandchildren, Linda (Joe) Mihas, Nicole (Aaron) Laufenberger, Chad (Carrie) Olmstead, Lindsay Now (Mike Fletcher), Logan Now (Becky Taylor) and Landon Now; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Audrey Ulesich, Antigo; a brother, William Now, Antigo; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Gwendolyn Reimer and a granddaughter, Jessica Aulik.

A funeral Mass will be held on Monday at 11:30 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Aniwa with Rev. Everard Scesney officiating. Burial will take place in St. Boniface Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. on Monday at the Bradley Funeral Home followed by a procession to St. Boniface Catholic Church.
