Audrey Tiegs
November 26, 1917 - December 29, 2010

Audrey Tiegs, a longtime Summit Lake resident, died Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Care Partners in Antigo. She was 93 years old. She was born on November 26, 1917 in the Town of Summit, a daughter of John and Margaret (Gnahn) Steger. She married Otto Tiegs on December 23, 1936 at Iron Mt, Mich. He preceded her in death on March 11, 1984.

She worked as a waitress at High Point in Summit Lake for 30 years, and seasonally at Kraftwood Gardens. She will be remembered as a help to many area homemakers assisting with cleaning, painting and wallpapering.

Mrs. Tiegs was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Elcho and the Ladies Aid where she was active in making world relief quilts. She was also a lifetime member of the Noetzelman-Boodry American Legion Post 377 Auxillary.

Survivors include a daughter Jean Weaver, Summit Lake, a son Otto (Bonnie) Tiegs Jr., Summit Lake; a sister Kathryn Pukall, Antigo; five grandchildren Ted (Catherine) Weaver, Clarence (Kim) Weaver, Otto III (Jean) Tiegs, Bonnie (Jim) Zwicke and Robert Tiegs; twelve great grandchildren Linsey, Sara and Nicholas Weaver, Ethan and Lydia Weaver, Kim (Jim) Galarowicz, Karen and Eric Tiegs, Elizabeth and Krista Wickman, Abbey Zwicke and Riley Tiegs; a great great grandchild Ashleigh Galarowicz.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Vernon and Richard Steger, a sister Edna Cole.

Services will be held on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at St. Luke Lutheran Church with Rev. Jerome Hahn officiating. Burial will take place in Lakeside Cemetery Summit Lake in the spring. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the church with the American Legion Auxillary service at 10:30 a.m.

In leiu of flowers a memorial fund is being established.
