Dee R. Cheek
May 4, 1939 - March 3, 2011

Dee R. Cheek age 71, of Ames passed peacefully Thursday Mar. 3 after a courageous battle with multiple health issues.

Dee was born May 4, 1939 to Roy and Mildred (Bacon) Cheek. He graduated from Nevada High School in 1957. Dee enjoyed his life's work and the many friends he made in the car business including owning his own auto body shop and used car dealership. In later years Dee spent his happiest times at Holiday Lake camping and patrolling the lake streets in his golf cart.

Dee's true love was his family. He is survived by his wife of 30 years Sandra (Hughes) Cheek, sister-in-law Linda Cheek of Ames, sons Bruce (Sue) Cheek of Prole and David Cheek of Nevada, stepsons Greg Hughes of Solon and Randy Hughes of Cambridge, 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Jerry Cheek.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation and memorial 2:00 - 4:00 pm Sunday Mar. 6 at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care 414 Lincoln Way Ames. Online condolences may be sent to www.grandonfuneralandcremationcare.com.
