Stanley Jerome Lewin, 74, died on March 13, 2018. He was born on June 13, 1943 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Rose Zechella and Stanley Jerome Lewin, Sr. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Cincinnati, and his Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Miami in Ohio. (Experimental psychology, that is. He wanted everyone to be sure they knew he was NOT a clinician). There, he met his wife, Mollie. After years of friendship blossomed into love, they were eventually married in 1972. Together, they moved to Springfield, Illinois where their son, Ben, was born. In 1979, they moved to Corpus Christi, Texas, where he taught at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi until he retired in 2010. Their daughter Jennie was born in Corpus Christi, where Stan and Mollie raised their family. After retirement, they moved from the beaches of Corpus Christi to the frozen tundra of Rochester, MN to be closer to their daughter. I know what you must be thinking, wasn't that backwards? The thing is, it wasn't. He moved because he cared deeply for his family, which was always his number one priority.
Stan will be remembered by many for his gentle soul and corny sense of humor. He even convinced someone that he participated in the Olympic games as a distance swimmer. While his humor will never be forgotten, the love he shared with his students, friends and family was ultimately his greatest gift to the world.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosella Zechella and his father, Stanley Jerome Lewin, Sr, and mother-in-law, Rosella Shumaker Hollingsworth. He is survived by his wife, Mollie Shumaker Lewin, his children Ben (Kristina) Lewin and Jennie Lewin (Ben Romberg), his granddaughter, Maisy Lewin, and sister-in-law Nancy Pallan (Tom). His family wishes to thank all those who assisted in his care, especially Lexie Biederman, who supported him during the last several months and moments of his life. A graveside service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery on Friday, March 16th at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Rabbi's Discretionary Fund at B'nai Israel Synagogue of Rochester, MN or to a charity of your choice.

"Molly and family, I am so very sorry to hear of Dr. Lewin's passing. I had psychology classes under both you and Stan in the early 90's at Corpus Christi. I enjoyed the classes so very much and admired you both for your enthusiasm and enjoyment of teaching. I remember Dr. Lewin always smiling. He seemed to thoroughly enjoy life and made each day a new day. He had a way of engaging the class and made learning fun and exciting. Molly, just to help you remember who I am, I painted you a painting of a waterfall for encouraging me to go beyond my comfort zone and take a painting class. I wanted you to have something to show other students how you never know what you can do till you try. Being in Corpus and having such wonderful professors as yourselves was a blessing and I will always remember each of you with the warmest regards.

"Mollie, Ben, and Jennie,
Kathy and I are praying for you and your family during this time of great sorrow. Both you and Stan were always there for support and advice whenever needed after my move to Corpus Christi. Stan's General Psychology classes were legendary. I still run into his students all the time who talk about how happy they are to have had him as their instructor. I will always hear his voice whenever I walk into a large lecture hall. Nobody greeted students like Stan did. He was so loved. So many fond memories.......Steve Seidel"
