Douglas Lee Carnes, age 75, died peacefully at home on December 22, 2016 in Omaha, Nebraska. He was born November 1, 1941 to Loyal and Irene (Cue) Carnes, in Beresford, South Dakota. Douglas is survived by his wife, Carol (Gulbrandson) Carnes; daughter, Jacqueline (Gerald) Winfrey; sister Marlys (Larry) Lubash; son-in-law, Brian Mayberry; five grandchildren, Melissa, Brett and Nathan Winfrey, Trevor and Nicholas Mayberry; four great-grandchildren, Lucian, Adrian, Jordan and Landon. He was preceded in death by his daughters, Becky Carnes and Cynthia Mayberry; parents, Loyal and Irene Carnes; brothers, Curtiss, Fred and Mark Carnes; sister, Pauline Ronan.
Douglas was a Chicago NW Railroad employee for most of his working career. Upon retirement he put his whole heart into the "G" Scale model replica train yard he installed in the backyard garden patio and enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events. He was a dog lover and his hobbies included bowling, woodworking, golfing, hunting and reading his favorite author Louis Lamour. His pride and joy was his 1950 Studebaker. He was an active member of the Husker Hawk Studebaker Drivers Club, Inc.
