Opal Jean Clark
September 19, 1919 - May 29, 2017

Opal Jean (Dickson) Clark died May 29, 2017 at the age of 97 in
Omaha, Nebraska. A private family service will be held. Born in
Dunning Nebraska on September 19, 1919 to Ervin and Lavern
(Lawson) Dickson. She attended high school in Hasey, Nebraska
and later continued her education at the Chadron State Normal School. She
taught in a one room country school in Wyoming for 2 years before moving to
Madison Wisconsin and shortly thereafter was one of the first to enlist in the
Woman's Army Auxiliary Corps. During World War II she served as a
cryptographer for the air force. Following her discharge in 1945 she became
employed with the Occupational Forces in Tokyo, Japan. While in Japan she
was united in marriage to Sgt. First Class Walter E Clark.
The couple returned to the states in 1951 and lived in Santa Maria
California. Their daughter, Patricia, was born in April 1952. Following the death of
her husband Opal move back to Nebraska. She worked for the City of Scottsbluff.
In 1965 she was employed by Scottsbluff County where she worked in the
County Clerk's Office and became Deputy Register of Deeds. She retired in
1984.
She is survived by her daughter Patricia Green (Henry) of Omaha NE,
granddaughter Nicole Green of Lincoln NE. Sister-in-laws: Anita Dickson of San
Francisco CA, and Kathy Dickson of Denver CO. Nieces: Jean (Doug) Pengilly,
Debbie Dickson. Nephews: Gary (Nancy) Dickson, Eric (Carol) Dickson and Marc
(Pat) Dickson. She is also survived by two special God-sons: Adrik and McCoy
Malone.
