Chester Lee Engle
March 29, 1939 - April 4, 2018

Chester "Lee" Engle, 79, of Baxter, passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Lee and Judith's memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at the Remnant Church in Centerville, Iowa. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, April 22, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. in the Restland Cemetery in Baxter, Iowa.

Lee was born in Marshalltown, Iowa on March 29, 1939 to Chester Newell and Burdine (Jarvis) Engle. The family relocated to the Udell area where Lee attended and graduated from Udell High School in 1957. After school Lee enrolled in the Army where he served his country during the Vietnam War. After he was honorably discharged Lee moved to Colorado where he bought and ran Husky Truck Stop. While working there he met Judith Collins. In 1978 the couple married in Limon, Colorado. Shortly after they moved the family to Unionville, Iowa where Lee bought a farm and began farming. Lee bought and ran a grocery store in Unionville, Iowa too. Over the years Lee also worked as a farm hand, mail carrier, and at Success Barber and Beauty Supply where he ran a lathe for Perfecto Products Inc. He retired in 2003. Lee was a member of the American Legion in Unionville and the Moravia Masonic Lodge Unit 252. He enjoyed spending time with his kids and grand-kids, fishing, NASCAR, and watching western movies.

Those left to cherish his loving memory are his children Pam (Lori) Collins, Dana Malone, Mike (Erin) Engle, Tammy (James) DeHerrera, Burdine "Deedee" Engle, and Julia Engle; grandchildren Jonathan Engle, Kristen Malone, Kaitlyn Engle, Allison Engle, Bradley Engle, Sarah (August) Schoeneman, Joshua (Amanda) Engle, Jamia Aragon, and Jovon Aragon; great-grandson Jacob; sister Fern (Walter) Paris; many nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, wife Judith, sister Clara Neolma, and Zelda Fletcher, and brother Delbert Engle.

Fredregill Funeral & Cremation Care in Baxter has been entrusted with the care of Lee and his family.
