Viletta M. Arneson, 83, of Madison, Wisconsin, passed away April 12, 2018 following a heart attack. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harland W. Arneson and Gladys L. Arneson, of Barneveld, Wisconsin. Viletta is survived by her brother, Wendell Arneson, sister-in-law Beth Christensen, and nieces Mari and Kate Arneson of Northfield, Minnesota, as well as numerous cousins and other relatives.
Viletta loved to travel. She was an active member of Bethel Lutheran Church of Madison including the XYZ Club. She was employed by WPS for more than 20 years. A special thank-you is directed to the staff and Viletta's numerous friends at The Gardens, where she joyfully spent the last year and a half of her life.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 10:30 am at The Good Shepherd Chapel of Bethel Lutheran Church, 312 Wisconsin Ave, Madison, WI 53703, with Pastor Margo Martens officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Bethel Lutheran Church, XYZ Club.

"Viletta was a wonderfully entertaining individual in the Tai Chi classes conducted at the XYZ gatherings at church on Friday mornings. She loved to talk, even through meditation, but she was always a bubbly delight. She said she would use Tai Chi techniques waiting for the bus. Her sparkling personality and often sparkly attire in a rainbow of colors was always a bright spot on gloomy days. I am so thrilled to learn she was joyful and spread that joy to her fellow residents in 'The Gardens' Viletta is a person I'll not soon forget and she will afford me some chuckles as I recall her unique view of the world. She was also a bus rider, as I am. I am shocked at the news of her death. She was a kind person, and devoted to WPS and her family. "
"When Viletta first moved to Madison, she rented a room for one dollar/day in our family home, the Schneiders, in the 800 block of Gorham Street. She lived with us for a couple years and never seemed to mind the activity and noise of six children. (Plus the fact that we only had one bathroom!) She was a very sweet lady to have in our home.
