Dr. Kenneth Ross Rayner
Kenneth Rayner, 91, of New London, passed away Monday, April 16, 2018 at his home. He was born November 26, 1926 in Riverside, Iowa, to Ross Frank and Theodora Peet Rayner. He grew up on the family farm in Lone Tree graduating from Lone Tree High School in 1943. Kenneth farmed in the area until attending the University of Iowa and Iowa State University. On September 6, 1954 he married Marianne Jaeger from Keota, Iowa. In 1958 he graduated from Veterinary Medicine and practiced in New London from 1958 to 1996.
He was an Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II, a member of the American Legion, was active in several veterinary organizations, and was of the Christian faith.
Dr. Rayner is survived by his wife, Marianne; children, Renee (David) Brown, Ross Rayner and Robyn Rayner; grandchildren; great grandchildren; and one brother, Keith.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Diane Rayner Brinkmeyer, and grandson, Jacob Rayner Chmelka.
A graveside service for Dr. Rayner will be held at 11:00 April 27th at the Lone Tree Cemetery with Pastor Rod Cooper officiating. Immediately following the service, the family will receive friends at the American Legion Hall adjacent to the cemetery; libations and a meal will be served. In the event of inclement weather, the service will be in the hall.
A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice, West Burlington.
