Helen Drage
December 26, 1933 - April 26, 2018

Helen May Drage, of Antigo, died Thursday, April 26, 2018, at DeBroux Adult Family Home under the care of LeRoyer Hospice. She was 84 years old. She was born on December 26, 1933, in Antigo, a daughter of the late Henry and Helen (Weeks) Drage.

Helen lived a life filled with many friends and experiences. She enjoyed life to the fullest. She was surrounded by the family of the Eight Reasons Group Home in Antigo and then later by the family at the Debroux Family Home in Phlox. The eight individuals at the group home became a very close family as they shared many activities with each other, along with caregivers Sandy Fischer, Jean Pagel, Julie Langcore and other caregivers over the years.

Helen was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Antigo,volunteering to clean on Saturdays and worshiping regularly with her sister, Joan. She was an active participant in the Special Olympics.

She loved dancing at parties at the Health Care Center or whenever there was a gathering with music. She enjoyed traveling, having taken many weekend sightseeing excursions to different parts of Wisconsin and Michigan. Additional trips included Branson, Graceland, the Ice Capades, Waupaca Chain of Lakes and trips to the casino. Her favorite trip being to Lambeau Field where she met Brett Favre and received his autograph. She also enjoyed the Langlade County Youth Fair, especially seeing the animals, going to grandstand shows and listening to live music. Helen was an avid Green Bay Packer and Elvis fan. She enjoyed country music, knitting, bowling and going to movies.

Survivors include four sisters, Harriet Jacobs of Millbrook, Ala., Marie Napier of Crystal River, Fla., Joan Drage of Phlox and Margaret (Jim) Putnam of Sebree, Ky.; two brothers, Henry (Carol) Drage of ElCajon, Calif. and James Drage of Nevada. She is further survived by her close friend and guardian for thirty six years, Clara Hartman.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Roselba Baseley.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 30 at 1:30 p.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home with Rev. David Karolus officiating. Burial will take place in the Neva Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from Noon to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
