Antoinette Conklin
Antoinette, or Annie as she was known, was born in New York City in 1925, the youngest of six children, to Emanuele and Antoinette (Vallone) Traina.
While pursuing high school studies, Annie considered various future paths, including those of nursing and the religious sisterhood. Ultimately, due to the economic circumstances of the times, Annie chose to pursue a career as a business office secretary and eventually became an administrative assistant in various companies including Pergamon Press in Elmsford, NY. Annie's desire to give of herself, to share her time, talent and treasure, remained throughout her life.
In 1951 Annie married the love of her life, Richard Conklin, who passed away in 2010. Throughout their 59 years of marriage, they lived in Astoria, NY, moved to Philadelphia, PA, and eventually retired to Greenwich, CT, where Annie became an active and involved parishioner at St Timothy's Chapel in the parish of St Michael the Archangel. A devout Catholic, Annie never hesitated to offer compassion, instruction and catechesis to those who had lost or were weak in their faith. Among these were the family members of alcohol and drug addicted persons and relatives and friends of the terminally ill. Because of Annie's devotion to Blessed Mother Mary and her faith in the spiritual benefits of the Holy Rosary and the Memorare, many friends and relatives asked for her prayers, which she gave freely and frequently. In weakening health, Annie moved to Hurley, NY in 2012 and became a member of St Peter the Apostle Church in Kingston, NY, where she was warmly welcomed and befriended by all.
Antoinette was predeceased by her parents, her husband Richard, and four siblings: Vincent Traina, Robert Traina, Frank Traina, and Catherine Amendola. Surviving are her sister Phyllis Antonelle, nephews Robert Traina, Frank Traina and wife Ellen, Anthony Traina and wife Trisha, niece Annette Braithwaite and husband Roy, niece Maryann Antonelle and many grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
The family wishes to thank Fr. Marc Oliver for his frequent visits with Antoinette and for providing spiritual and emotional support to family members. Also, we thank the HVHA Oncology staff on Broadway East and the Oncology Support Program staff for their extraordinary care during Annie's many hospitalizations last year. We are most grateful to those staff in all departments of TenBroeck Commons, and especially those on the DeWitt unit, who have so positively and lovingly interacted with Antoinette and her family members for the past 13 months. By your hugs, laughs, family stories and photos, tenderness, prayers, tears, and the sharing of your own personal struggles, losses and triumphs - in other words, by your love - you became part of our family.

Entrusted to the care of A. Carr & Son Funeral Home, 65 Lucas Ave, Kingston, NY, 12401 where friends and family may visit on Sunday June 25 from 2pm to 5pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Monday at 10am at St. Peter's RC Church, 93 Wurts St., Kingston, NY 12401. Entombment will follow in Putnam Cemetery, Greenwich, CT.
