SUN PRAIRIE- Ardis B. Schroeder (Kreger) passed away after a brief illness at St. Mary's Hospital on Friday, June 8, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was born on August 14, 1924 Sun Prairie to Ernest and Helen (Skram) Kreger Sr. she was the oldest of 8 children. She resided in the Sun Prairie area in her early years, she was baptized, confirmed and married at Peace Ev. Lutheran Church. Ardis also taught Sunday school there. Ardis married Oliver Schroeder on June 2, 1945. They were married for 52 years, they went on to farm for many years in the Township of Windsor/De Forest Area, and they went on to move to the Village of De Forest and continue on living there for many years. Later in life, they moved to Sun Prairie where they continued to live out their lives. Ardis and Oliver were blessed with three children: Lyle, Marilyn, and Carol.
Ardis worked at the Wisconsin Porcelain in Sun Prairie two times in her life, in High School and then again starting there in 1969 and continued there until it closed, she then later went and worked at Walmart in Sun Prairie for 14 years and then retired in her eighties. Together they traveled many miles on vacations all over the United States. Ardis loved fishing and with her husband traveled several times to Canada Fishing and loved to fish in the area for bullheads. Ardis was an avid bowler for 49 years, she also made the "600 Club" for bowling. She also loved a good card game of Sheepshead with her friends at Colonial View where she resided up until just recently.
Ardis is survived by her Children Marilyn Wolfrum of Windsor and Carol (Craig) Burmania of Friesland; her Grandchildren Renee (Troy) Selje, Aaron Lange, Megan Wolfrum, Morgan (Karmen) Wolfrum, Meredith Walsvick, and special Granddaughter Jessica Lange, Stacy (Mark) Cwilko, Kevin Czaikowski, Cheryl (Dennis) LaBarge, and Kirby Czaikowski; Great-Grandchildren, Tim Weber, Trinity Wolfrum, Jayson Selje, Hailey and Jackson Lange; and Phoenix Wolfrum; 29 Nieces and Nephews, Sister-in-law Marge Kreger; Brothers In-law Robert Pitcel and Virgil Schroeder; and other relatives. Ardis also survived by her special friend Betty Korth from Colonial View and many other dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Oliver who passed away in 1997 and son Lyle who passed away in 1989; 4 Brothers (Ervin, Ernest Jr., Donald and Vernon; and 3 Sisters (Ruth Ratzlow, Charlotte Johnson and Shirley Rogers).
She was loved and will be missed by many.
Visitation will be from 10-11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Peace Ev. Lutheran Church, 232 Windsor Street, Sun Prairie, WI 53590 with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM. Lunch will be served after the service at church fellowship hall. Private burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park in Monona.
