Lawrence Joseph Roseman
January 23, 1928 - June 10, 2018

Larry Roseman, a retired Boeing engineer, passed away on Sunday, June 10th, at the Regional Hospital in Burien at the age of 90. He died as he lived, on his own terms and by his own rules, with his friends around him. Born January 23, 1928 in Detroit, Larry grew up on the east coast where his father was a jewelry salesman. A proud veteran of the US Army, Larry graduated from Lehigh University in 1950 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering, and quickly gravitated toward aeronautics and stress analysis. On Christmas Eve 1957 he moved to Seattle to work for Boeing, where he remained until his retirement in 1974. While at Boeing, he worked on the B-52 bomber and was project manager on the AWACS RADOME. As a contract engineer, he also worked on the 747, the 767, and the B-2 Stealth Bomber before fully retiring in 1986. In retirement, Larry began his second career as an Access student at the University of Washington, where he took over 100 courses in History and Religious Studies and generously funded fellowships and professorships in the History Department. Among many other achievements, he was also an accomplished astrologer. His two brothers, Richard and Harvey, predeceased him. Twice divorced, he had no children. Mentor, benefactor, and philosopher, he was one of a kind, and will be sorely missed. Funeral service at Evergreen Washelli, 11111 Aurora Ave. N., on Tuesday, June 19, at 12 noon. Interment at Mt Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to the Department of History, University of Washington, Box 35360, Seattle, WA, 98195-3560.
