Leroy Bickford age 79 of Maquoketa Iowa died on Friday afternoon November 192004.0 at the Jackson County Public Hospital in Maquoketa Iowa.



A Celebration of His Life will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday November 232004.0 from the Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa Iowa with Rev. Mel Valdez of the First United Methodist Church in Maquoketa Iowa officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7:30 P.M. Monday November 222004.0 from the Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa Iowa. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery Maquoketa Iowa where full military rites will be accorded by the Maquoketa

American Legion Post #75 Maquoketa VFW Post #3633 O'Connor-Regenwether and the Andrew AMVETS Post #62.



Leroy Bickford was born on September 20 1925 in Fulton Iowa to Ernest G. Bickford and Leitha M. (Barkley) Bickford. He was educated in Jackson County Country Schools and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He married Rose Mary Dague on April 13 1957 in Maquoketa Iowa.



Leroy had farmed and worked at J.I. Case prior to his marriage. He then worked at Clinton Engines in Maquoketa and for Caterpillar in Mount Joy Iowa as a fork truck driver for over 20 years retiring in 1987.



Leroy was a member of the Maquoketa American Legion Post #75 Maquoketa VFW Post #3633 O'Connor-Regenwether Andrew AMVETS Post #62 and the Isaac Walton League. He had attended the First United Methodist Church in Maquoketa and enjoyed fishing playing cards woodworking camping and gardening.



Leroy is survived by: his wife- Rose Mary Bickford of Maquoketa IA; sisters- Doris Yaddof of Maquoketa IA Janice Mohr of Bettendorf IA Margie (Mrs. Carl) Stender of White Cloud MI; & several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents 1 brother & 2 sisters.



A Leroy Bickford Memorial Fund has been established.
