Bert Bastin
November 16, 1952 - July 10, 2018

Bert R, Bastin, 65, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on July 10, 2018 surrounded by his family who loved him dearly.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2018 at First Covenant Church with Rev. Michael Crawford officiating. Burial will follow at the Gowrie Cemetery. A visitation will be Friday 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home.
Bert is survived by his wife of 43 years, Vicki of Fort Dodge; daughter, Andrea Kalina (Brian) of Canton, MI; sons, Ben Bastin (Supunsa) of Ames, IA and Curtis Bastin of Nevada, IA; and sister, Diann Pflaum (Gene) of Lakeland, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Myrna (Bohn) Bastin.
Bert Bastin was born November 16, 1952 in Lake City. He was raised and educated in Gowrie and graduated from Prairie Community Schools in 1971. On June 28, 1975, he was united in marriage to Vicki Swanson. The couple established their home in the Knierim area until moving to Fort Dodge in 1981. Bert worked for Farmland for 24 years. Later, he worked for Kendal Pliner for a short period of time. He then was employed by Valero until 2013 when he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, which he battled for five years. Bert loved singing; he was a member of the Harmony Brigade Barbershop Chorus and the Sonshine Singers. He also attended Faith Baptist Church.
Memorials may be left to family discretion.
