John James Mullen, Sr.

It is with great sadness that the family of John J. Mullen, Sr. announces his passing on July 20, 2018, in Sarasota, FL, at the age of 79 years.

A Native of Philadelphia, PA., He was the eldest of 11 siblings. He attended West Catholic High School, St. Joe's, and Penn State, Colleges in Philadelphia, and graduated with a degree in chemistry. John proudly served in the Marine Reserves in 1963-1967. He worked for numerous companies in the sales force of specialty chemicals, retiring as North American Sales Manager for ICI Zeneca in 2002.

He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Diane Worrilow Wojs Mullen, and children, Susan O'Neill (Clark), and John J. Mullen, Jr. (Katie); 3 stepchildren, David Wojs, Jr. (Julie), Tracie Dammann, (James), Cheri Cilurso, (Fred), and 6 Grandchildren, Brendan, Annmarie, Madison, Natalie, Amelia, & Cayla. John is predeceased by his first wife of 37 years, Joan Dawson, Mullen in 2000. John will be sorely missed by all for his genuine honesty, dry sense of humor and exuberance for all things political and sports related, especially the Philadelphia Eagles, Flyers, and Phillies. We are grateful for his courage during his short battle with cancer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's of the Assumption Catholic Church, 7200 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, DE, 19707, on Saturday, August 11, 2018, at 10 AM, those who would like to pay their respects may do so 1 hour prior to the Mass. Interment will follow the service at St. Patrick's Cemetery, 1516 Ashland Clinton School Road, Hockessin. DE, 19707. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Tidewell Hospice Inc., Attn.: Philanthropy Department, (with a note in memory of John J. Mullen, Sr.), 5955 Rand BLVD, Sarasota, FL, 34238-9989
