Arthur B. King, 90, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 4th at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and then 10:30 at Sacred Heart Church for a Mass of Christian Burial with Msgr. Kevin McCoy, officiating. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery with Military Rites Conducted by the V.F.W. Post 1856 and the U.S. Army Honor Guard. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM with a Rosary at 4:00 PM all at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife of over 60 years Marlene of Fort Dodge; children, Craig King of West Des Moines; Suzanne (Shaun) Ratchford of Danbury, CT; Kelly (Blaine) Bancks of Ames; John King of Manson; Mary (Tom) Foldes of Johnston; Kris (Tim) Burns of Fort Dodge; Jerry Hrdlicka of Fort Dodge; 12 grandchildren; and his sister, Barbara Runde of McIntyre.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo Joseph and Helena (Meurer) King; 4 brothers; 1 sister; and Julie Hrdlicka.
Arthur Bernard King was born on May 18, 1928 in Adams, MN. He attended Sacred Heart Schools there and graduated from Adams High School in 1946. From 1950 until his honorable discharge in 1952 he served in the U.S. Army in Korea with the Tank Division in charge of moving tanks to the frontlines. On February 15, 1958 he was united in marriage to Marlene Bittner at Corpus Christi Church and the couple made their home in Fort Dodge. For over 42 years Art worked at Hormel's where he was eventually the plant manager. He spent his last 4 years with Hormel's in Austin, MN after the plant closed in Fort Dodge. He retired in 1987. He was member of Sacred Heart Church, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, and the Iowa State Cyclone Club.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
