"40 years ago I met Kathy - the first day of 1st grade. She didn't talk in classes but would holler with the best of us on the playground. We'd have sleepovers at my house and in summers, my mom would make us sleep outside in a tent because we were so noisy. When we were 16, we made a cassette tape of us singing silly songs - and I still have that cassette. I accidentally recorded over a few minutes of it several years ago...but this tape is hysterically funny. I still have the 1st Christmas gift she ever gave me (we were in 1st or 2nd grade). It was a little elf/gnome type thing. We were pretty much inseparable throughout school, through graduation. She was the best friend anyone could ever ask for. She even came to court with me when I got divorced from my 1st husband. Even though we'd lost touch in recent years, I still consider her the best friend I've ever had. I'm so sorry for your loss. Kathy was like beacon of light in a world of (sometimes) darkness. "

Kathy M. Hoffmeister, of Wausau, died Saturday, July 28, 2018, at her home under the care of family and Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice. She was 46 years old. She was born on June 16, 1972, in Milwaukee, a daughter of the late William and Gladys (Kainz) Hoffmeister.
Kathy graduated from Antigo High School with the class of 1990.
She was employed at Aspirus Wausau Hospital for over 20 years, most recently as a chemotherapy technician with Aspirus Regional Cancer Center.
Kathy enjoyed painting, cooking and traveling. She had a love for the outdoors, camping, gardening, hunting and fishing. She had a special place in her heart for her dogs.
She was loved by everyone who met her.
Survivors include her significant other, Jonathan Kuehn of Wausau; three sisters, Cindy (Edward) Wasrud of Wauwatosa, Carla (Donald) Zeinert of Mattoon and Amy (Ken) Lenzner of Birmanwood; nieces and nephews, Sarah (Robert) Baker, Christine Lenzner, Michelle Lenzner, Joshua Wasrud, Derek Hoffmeister, Donald Hoffmeister. She is also survived by Jon's parents, Donovan and Carol Kuehn, and siblings, David (Vanessa) Kuehn of Delafield and Andrea (Eric) Elser of Waterford.
A celebration of Kathy's life will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2018, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home.
