"Sorry to hear about Lorraine. My name is Sherri Wilkinson. I live in Clinton, IA with my husband, Jon. I used to groom your mom's pomeranians "Page" and "Penny" when they lived in Clinton. She and Marcellus were the sweetest couple ever!! We became great friends in Clinton and remained friends when they moved to Memphis, MO and Maquoketa, IA. We made a motorcycle trip to Memphis, MO to see them. By myself or with my husband I made lots of trips to Maquoketa, IA to visit your mom. Lots of times I took her out for lunch and to do a little shopping if she needed something. Lorraine and I called each other quite frequently on the phone and we always told each other "I love you" at the end of our conversations. Marcellus had dementia and my father had alzheimers disease so we had a lot in common. We supported each other in good times and bad. Your mom was like a second mother to me and I am very sad myself to lose her. I want you to know I too share your painful loss. I loved her and she was a very special friend!!! I hope some of your family remember me. I remember meeting Claire, JoAnn and Martha. My only regret is that I didn't get to keep in contact with Lorraine with visits or phone conversations after she moved back to Memphis, MO last March or April. I had surgery late in 2017 which took a long time to get better. I sent Lorraine a Christmas card where I gave her my cell phone no. and a birthday card last February. I made some phone calls last fall and winter trying to keep in touch but in mid March 2018 I caught a sinus infection and was very sick for 5 plus weeks. In May my father-in-law passed away. In June we took a badly needed vacation. When we got home I tried to contact Lorraine and found her phone no. disconnected. I was very sad to learn this. I had no way to reach out to you for answers as to what happened to her until now. I know she had MS and heart problems. I just wondered in the end what happened. I would appreciate if someone in your family could let me know. My cell phone no. is (563) 212-5115. Her friendship meant so much to me. I want you to know that your family is in our thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time. Considering the health problems Lorraine had she did very well making it to 93 years old. Lorraine M. Hansen, 93, of LaPlata, Missouri and formerly of Maquoketa and Charlotte, Iowa, passed away on Thursday morning, August 2, 2018, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Claire and Del Berg, in LaPlata, Missouri.
Private Family Services will be held from the Clinton Lawn Cemetery, Clinton, Iowa at a later date. Cremation has taken place. The Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa is caring for the family and in charge of the arrangements.
