"I will never forget the few days that I had spent with Velma and George when I was about 13 years old. They treated me like a queen! Every morning a made to order breakfast with fresh fruit. Our days will filled from morning to evening planned just for me. George let me drive the back roads back from Winona after going to the Hot Fish Shop and seeing the sites. I think he was as excited as I was but not so sure Velma felt the same way, but she still had that wonderful smile on her face. So fortunate to have spent that time with them. It was that same visit that I was offered a ride back to Iowa with Jerry and Pam Bunke. It was a little over a year after that, when Jerry had died while snowmobile racing. So thankful to have spend that time with Velma & George (wonderful godparents/Aunt & Uncle) those few days and to get to know a cousin that I wouldn't have had the chance to if it would not have been for that time in spent with Velma and George in Rushford. Truly blessed to have such a great family! "

"When I was very young, I enjoyed our family visits to Rushford. Velma was a terrific hostess and I wanted to be her when I grew up. Sadly, I soon learned that there was only one Velma. She will be missed by all who were lucky enough to meet her. Blessings to her family. Sandra (Himlie, Dunn) Matusko"
