Gerald J. "Jiggs" Rahe
January 22, 1936 - August 7, 2018

Gerald Joseph "Jiggs" Rahe was born January 22, 1936, to Rudy and Viola (Deitering) Rahe on the Ford farm southeast of Bancroft, Iowa. He grew up on the farm learning the value of hard work and graduated from St. John's Catholic High School. He then served his country in the United States Army stationed in Germany.

Jiggs was married to Barbara Wolf on June 26, 1972, in Elmore, MN. He worked 43 years for the Bancroft Elevator now known as Stateline Cooperative, retiring in 2015. Jiggs was a kind, gentle man with a servant heart and a quiet, quick wit. He loved the outdoors, particularly doing yardwork for both himself and neighbors. He had a keen interest in farming, especially livestock. He was always willing to go the extra mile for customers, so many of whom he considered friends. He loved all his family, being involved and genuinely interested in the lives of his kids and grandkids. He also enjoyed spending time with his siblings, their spouses, and his many nieces and nephews. Special relationships were built with so many. He was a passionate Chicago Cubs fan for many decades. Jiggs was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and the Catholic Order of Foresters.

Gerald J. Rahe died Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at Hospice of North Iowa Inpatient Unit in Mason City at the age of 82.

He is survived by his wife, Barb, of Bancroft; two children, Michael Rahe of Elmore, MN and his children Kenya, Jeff, and Jason; and Sherri Huizenga and her husband Ryan of Orange City, IA and their children Kaitlin, Lily, and Mikey; two brothers, Bob Rahe and his wife Marilyn of New Ulm, MN; and Larry Rahe and his wife Darlene of Bancroft; four brothers-in-law, Eugene Wolf of Garner, Bill Wolf of Bancroft, Dennis Popp of Montgomery, MN, and Duane Weydert of Bode; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Carol Popp and Patty Weydert.
