Charlene R. McCoy
May 29, 1938 - August 22, 2018

My name is Charlene Rae (Rexroat) McCoy. I was born to David Abraham Rexroat and Mary Katherine (Birkenholz) Rexroat on May 29, 1938 in Altoona, Iowa. In March of 1942 we moved to Monroe, Iowa. I went to Monroe schools and graduated in 1956. I then moved to Des Moines and worked for Central Life Insurance until 1959, then went to Northwestern Bell and retired from there in 1992 after 33 years and 3 months. In my retirement, I worked for 7 years at Casey's making donuts.
I married Richard McCoy in Indianola on December 26, 1959 and made our home there until 2001. Following that I moved to Newton and have lived there for 18 years. I joined the Indianola Rebekah Lodge 111 on April 30, 1960 and became a 50 year member in 2010. I was Grand Noble different times and loved the Lodge work. I joined the Ladies Encampment Auxiliary in June of 1960 and dropped out in 2005. I was the state representative many years for the Auxiliary and served as Scribe there going on 20 years. I like anything chocolate, fried chicken, playing dominos, Playing cards, putting together puzzles and playing my organ.
Preceding me in death were my father and mother and two sisters, Carolyn Suplee and Carol Rexroat. Surviving are three sisters, JoAnn Acklin, Janet Taylor, and Donna Rexroat; a brother, David Rexroat, Jr.; a brother-in-law, Gary Taylor; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Rexroat and 8 nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Monroe. There will be a visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Church. Following the service will be a coffee time. Memorials may be directed to the Monroe Fire Department.
