In loving memory of

Rob Lee Brown
August 21, 1977 - August 31, 2018

Quiet, laid back, observant are just a few words to describe Rob Lee Brown. He enjoyed a simple life and loved family bonding.

With each year, technology kept advancing and 1977 saw more advancement with the release of Atari 2600 "Atari Video Computer System" in the United States, the first Apple II computers go on sale, TV mini-series "Roots" is aired and the first commercial flight on the Concord, which had a maximum speed over twice the speed of sound. Star Wars opened in cinemas, Elvis Presley passed away unexpectedly at the age of 42 and Jimmy Carter was elected as the United States39th President. In that year in Columbia City, Roger L. and Valarie J. (Wince) Brown were happy to announce the birth of their son on August 21, Rob Lee.

Growing up, Rob was intrigued by the devices in the household and it was not uncommon to find him disassembling something to see how it functioned or playing video games. He attended Columbia City High School and went on to further his education doing Cisco networking, attending carpentry school and mechanical school at Ivy Tech College. Rob worked various jobs throughout his life. He always enjoyed jobs where he was able to utilize his carpentry and computer networking skills.

In Rob's free time, he found relaxation in listening to his music, being surrounding by nature, going on walks and studying the stars and space. He enjoyed the challenges of rubik's cubes, puzzles and playing cards and games with his family. With a caring heart, he loved animals, especially horses and dogs.

Tragically, Rob's life ended too soon when a home fire erupted. Life forever changed for his family when they heard of the news on Friday morning, August 31, 2018 that Rob had passed away. Survivors include his father, Roger Brown, of Columbia City; mother, Valarie Davis, of Kimmell; sons, Seth Slabaugh and Haiden Slabaugh; grandson, Roman; sister, Laura Brown; brother, Lee (Rachel Parker) Brown; niece, DeLaney; and nephew, Riley. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard and Laura Brown, Carl Wince, and Homer and Martha Londt.

Visitation is 3-7 p.m. Thursday, September 6, 2018 at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at South Park Annex Cemetery beside his grandparents, Richard and Laura Brown. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations toward his funeral expenses, I.C.O. DeMoney-Grimes.
