Sandra Lee Hammers returned home to her creator on September 4, 2018, following a brief illness. Sandy was born July 9, 1961 in Iowa City, to Carl and Maxine (Good) Hammers.
Sandra spent much of her childhood in Southwest Iowa, including at the State Hospital School in Glenwood. In later life, she resided at Care Homes in Council Bluffs, Park Place in Glenwood and, most recently, Mosaic in Forest City.
Sandy was a fan of old country music, Elvis, playing cards, going out for dinner and making jokes. She had an infectious laugh unlike any other. She was a proud mother and grandmother.
Sandra was pre-deceased by her parents. She is survived by a daughter, Jackie Hammers-Crowell and granddaughter, Ivy Crowell, both of Solon, IA; 5 siblings - Teena Dodge of Red Oak, IA; Keith Hammers of Villisca, IA; LuAnn Roberts of Albert Lea, MN; John (Cathy) Hammers of Clarinda; and Lynn (Ron) Baumbach of Red Oak, IA; 17 nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and great nephews.
A graveside funeral service will be held at the Malvern Cemetery in Malvern, IA at 11am on October 8, 2018. Memorials may be sent to Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood.
