Shirley Ann Penney, 80, of Mediapolis, died at 7:30 PM Saturday, September 8, 2018, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born February 12, 1938 in Burlington, IA, she was the daughter of William A. and Emily M. McGinity Bowman. On May 2, 1977, she married John Penney in Burlington, IA.
Shirley had worked for Sweetheart Bakery, Selby's and was a homemaker.
Shirley enjoyed bowling, and bonfires with her children and grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She was an avid bingo player, camper and NASCAR Fan. Shirley loved her pets.
Survivors include her husband, John Penney of Mediapolis, IA; five daughters, Christine (Ed) Memi of League City, TX, Pamela (Kirk) Honson of Dodgeville, IA, Cheryl (Steve) Weathwax of Harvest AL, Penny Stephens of Mediapolis, IA, Teresa (Kirk) Fillmore of Mediapolis, IA and one son Donnie (Tammy) Schwerin of Port St. Lucie, FL; 17 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren; one brother, Billy Joe Bowman of West Burlington, and one sister, Donna Russell of Sperry, IA.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and son Darrel.
The Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, September 12th at the Eagles Club, 2727 Mt. Pleasant St in Burlington with a luncheon to follow.
A memorial has been established for the Animal Angel in Mediapolis, IA.
Cremation has been accorded and Lunning Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
