Virginia R. Borton
July 19, 1922 - September 11, 2018

Virginia Ruth Borton, 96, of Marshalltown, IA formerly of Clemons, IA, passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at State Center Specialty Care in State Center, IA. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 17, 2018, at Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m., until the time of the services, at Anderson Funeral Homes. Interment will be at Clemons Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.andersonfhs.com.

Virginia was born July 19, 1922, to Joseph and Edna (Larsen) Veeder in Hampton, IA. She graduated from Albert Lea High School in Minnesota. Virginia was united in marriage to Herbert Borton on April 25, 1943 in Hampton, IA. They had two daughters, Ruth Ann and Lois Jean. In 1957, the family relocated to Clemons. She and her husband owned and operated Borton Trucking and Corn Shelling. Later in life, Virginia was the postmaster at the Clemons Post Office. After retirement, Virginia worked in the kitchen at the State Center Nursing Home. She was a member of St. Anthony Christian Church and the Ladies Aid Society. In her free time, she loved playing cards.

Virginia is survived by her two daughters, Ruth Ann (Jeffrey) Hite of Mars Hill, NC, and Lois Jean (Sid) Hotopp of St. Anthony, IA; five grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and eight great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert; a brother, Joseph Veeder; and a sister, Lorraine Veeder.
