Tributes

Patrick Dejour II wrote on Sep 16, 2018:

"Shoes to Fill Both literally and metaphoric, I went to your home and took what you had left behind, We wear the same size but I could never fill your shoes. You were a mentor and a guide through life's toughest moments, But to be left here without you I have no where to turn, So I look within, With all I have, To be strong for the girls. If I'm honest, I'm broken, We share the same name, the same blood in our veins, We are alike in ways I'll never understand, And I've inherited you in every way. It breaks my heart, I can't change my face, Because I know when I take a look, Or crack a smile, Or say that particular expression, They see you in me; a painful reminder, but a happy memory. So just as you have always been, and taught us to be, I too will smile and be happy, Because the last thing you would have wanted is your son left in misery. Dad, I know you're gone, you can't hear or see this, But I want you to know, I love you. More than life itself. If I could change places I would, just to give you back to the world. But you have taken a step further than I ever have, A step you can't take back, And for me to take your place in heaven, Those would be shoes too great for me to fill. You're an angel, and I will always love you with the entirety of my soul. Your Son, Patrick Dejour II"
