Mary F. Van Dusseldorp, age 83 of Colfax, passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Howard Street Christian Church. Burial will take place at Colfax Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, September 28, 2018 from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the Chalice Room at the Howard Street Christian Church. The family will greet friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to On With Life in Ankeny and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com
The daughter of Alpha A. & Velma (Carter) Reese, Mary was born on February 2, 1935 in Jasper County, Iowa. She graduated from Colfax High School in 1953. On September 17, 1953, she was united in marriage to Eben Van Dusseldorp, Jr. She was a member of the Howard Street Christian Church. Mary enjoyed activities with her children, which included being a Cub Scout Leader, Blue Bird Leader, Campfire Leader, Mother Advisory of Rainbow, and Sunday School Teacher. She was also Deaconess at the church, belonged to the Colfax Women's Club, Colfax Alumni, Ladies Shrine, PTA President and a member of the Iowa Genealogical Society.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband of 65 years, Eben; four children; Kenneth (Lori) Van Dusseldorp of Pella, Karen Van Dusseldorp of Newton, David (Cindy) Van Dusseldorp of Colfax and Donald (DeeAnn) Van Dusseldorp also of Colfax; 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her father in 1959 and mother in 1995. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Edwards and the staff at Skiff Medical Center and also to the staff at Garden View at Park Centre in Newton.
