Wanda Blome
March 26, 1929 - September 28, 2018

A funeral service for Wanda was held on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Bethany Evangelical & Reformed Church, Ledyard. Burial was in Highland Home Cemetery, Ledyard.

Wanda Doris Heetland was born March 26, 1929 to Jerry and Leona Heetland of Lakota, Iowa. She attended Country School for four years, then went on to Lakota Public School. Wanda played in the State Basketball Tournament with Lakota in 1946. After high school she worked at Ukena Hardware in Lakota. In 1951, she married Arlowe Blome and they lived on a farm south of Ledyard until she moved into town in 1995. In 2010 Wanda moved into the Nursing Home in Bancroft.

Wanda died on Friday, September 28, 2018, Accura HealthCare of Bancroft. She was 89.

Born to this union were Doug (Susan) of Des Moines, Terry (Trudy) of Ledyard, Robert (Sandra) Blome of Chandler, AZ and Karen (Tim) Fredrickson of Forest City. Grandchildren are Stacy (Travis) Bowman, Brian Blome, Jamie Woodburn, Jason (Amber) Blome, Jake (Amanda) Blome, Jayna (Ryan) Hoover, Casey (Steven) Davidsmeyer, Lynnea (Ray) Fredrickson-Smith and Danika Fredrickson. She has eleven Great-Grandchildren.

She is also survived by her sisters, Joan (Glen) Mabus and Florence Paulsen, brother, Gerald (Donna) Heetland and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arlowe, her parents, sisters, Miriam Stafford and Norma Smith, brothers, Ronald Heetland and Wayne Heetland, brothers-in-law, Larry Stafford, Vernon Smith and Elmer Paulsen, and sister-in-law, Gretchen Heetland.
