Ethel F. (Perdew) Hummel
December 7, 1941 - September 29, 2018

Ethel Florence Perdew Hummel, daughter of the late Ellis and Blanche (Wolf) May, was born on December 7, 1941 in Shambaugh, Iowa. She passed away on September 29, 2018 at CHI Lakeside Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska.

Ethel grew up in Shenandoah and graduated from Shenandoah High School with the class of 1959.

Ethel was united in marriage to William "Bill" Perdew on June 16, 1966 and Gary Hummel on December 5, 2005. She was a Nurses Aide at Elm Heights, Gardenview and other care facilities. She enjoyed reading, listening to music and dancing.

Ethel was preceded in death by her husbands, William "Bill" Perdew and Gary Hummel; sisters, Carolyn Ingram, Marian Cave and Virginia Zwiers and brothers, Kenneth May, Charles May and William May.

Ethel is survived by her daughter, Debra Engel and husband Todd of Bennington, Nebraska; son, Todd Perdew and wife Brandi of Manilla, Iowa; grandchildren, Faith and Jared Engel and Cooper and Carson Perdew; sisters, Marcella Tomei of Yuba City, California, Viola Gray of Eldora, Iowa, Ida Reding of Harrison, Arkansas and Arlene Young of Washington, North Carolina; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Celebration of life memorial graveside service will be held 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah.

Memorial visitation with the family will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah.

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.

"I am so sorry to hear about your mom. Just found it out an hour ago. If I had known I would have made sure to come up. We had a lot of get togethers when you were both very young, so I know you don't remember us from then. I really remember the renovated school house that you lived in over west somewhere, maybe Emerson? I enjoyed your mom and dad so much. And of course, when they lived across from my mom in Villisca. Thinking of you. Take care."
