Clinton A. Walker, 66, Mt. Pleasant, formerly New London, died Monday, October 1, 2018 at Great River Hospice House. He was born September 9, 1952 in Burlington to Willis Clifford and Caroline Wagner Walker. In 1977 he married Ellen Murray in Burlington; they divorced. He later married Jaleen Haller; they divorced.
A 1970 graduate of New London High School, Clinton attended one year at Iowa State University majoring in engineering. From 1978 until 1997 he owned and operated Walker Construction. He enjoyed building things, crosswords and time spent with grandchildren. Music was always an important part of his life. He played bass in bands since 1968; favorite bands were Bullet and Krew.
Survivors include his special friend, Sandy Howard, Mt. Pleasant; his sons, Christopher, Justin and Sam, all of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Emma (Jacob) Daniels of Walker, Iowa; and Sandy's children, Jeremy (Chris) Howard and family, Mt. Pleasant, and Jesse (Kasi) Howard and children Mila and Mason, New London. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be at 11:00 October 11 at Elliott Chapel with Pastor Kathleen Moore officiating. According to his wishes his body has been cremated. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Great River Hospice and New London United Methodist Church.
