Jeanne R. Graham
December 2, 1920 - October 5, 2018

Jeanne Ryan Graham, passed away peacefully at the Hill at Whitemarsh on October 5, 2018. She was 97 years old.

Born in Norfolk, Nebraska to the late William and Josephine (Mullen) Ryan, Jeanne was the wife of the late John C. Graham and mother of the late John C. Graham Jr. She was predeceased by her sisters Josephine Everhart, Eileen Picardi, and Helen Langer.

Jeanne is survived by her daughter, Jeanne Bixler; her son, William Graham (Julie); her grandson, Ryan Bixler (Kate), and great-granddaughters Mary Bixler and Celia Bixler.

In 1942, Jeanne graduated from Creighton University with a degree in nursing. She volunteered with Ambler Ambulance, American Cancer Society, was a school nurse at St. Josephs and worked as a Registered Nurse at Abington Memorial Hospital for 17 years. Jeanne was a long-time member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church.

Until recently, Jeanne lived in Ambler, PA in the Broad Axe community and was the last original homeowner - having lived in her house for 68 years. The tight knit community was a source of joy to Jeanne with neighbors frequently stopping by, snow shoveling, bringing the newspaper and even bringing their dogs for a visit. She loved gardening, reading, crossword puzzles and traveling - enjoying both cruises and spending winter months in Palm Desert, California.

Jeanne was an inspiration to all who knew her and a role model to many. Her positive outlook on life, genuine interest in others and her faith carried her gracefully through both good times and difficult times. She was a loving wife for 60 years and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be sadly missed not only by her family but by her many friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Church, 16 S. Spring Garden St, Ambler, PA followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in West Conshocken, PA where she will be laid to rest with her late husband and son. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in her name to Abington Health Foundation, 1200 Old York Rd, Abington, PA 19001 would be appreciated by the family.

"Jeanne and Bill, I just discovered your Mom's death notice here and am so upset that I didn't know in time to be there for you. To say the world has lost a beautiful and bright spirit would be an understatement. I know you will miss her terribly. But I'm sure your awesome Dad and great brother Jack were waiting with open arms for her. Strangely enough your beautiful Mom passed away on the 42nd anniversary of Kelly Anne's death. No doubt heaven is echoing the sounds of a lot of Irish music, laughter and dancing. My love, gratitude and sympathy to all of you."

"I am so sorry to learn about Mrs. Graham?s passing. She was always kind, loving and fun. I have so many wonderful memories of being at their home. She was the last of a great generation of neighbors in Broad Axe. The end of an era for sure. -Sherry Bradley Cowley"
