Vera Turner
September 22, 1921 - October 6, 2018

Funeral services for Mrs. Vera York Turner, age 97, of Livingston will be conducted 11 a.m., Monday, October 8, 2018 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. Rick Cross will officiate. Burial will be in the Hilham Cemetery. The family will welcome friends on Sunday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at Speck Funeral Home.

Mrs. Turner passed from this life on Saturday evening, October 6, 2018 from the Overton County Health & Rehab. She was born September 22, 1921 in Macon County Tennessee to the late William W. & Minnie Raines York. Vera was a member of the Gamaliel Baptist Church. She loved to play bingo & checkers. Her favorite dessert was Moon Pies. Her favorite joy was her family.

Vera leaves her daughters, Janice Chapman of Tompkinsville, KY, Linda Overstreet & husband Floyd of Lafayette, TN, and Loretta Raines & husband Milton of Hilham, TN; sons, Edward Turner & wife Lola of Lafayette, TN, and Steve Turner & wife Janice of Lafayette, TN; sister, Eva Moore of Lafayette, TN; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, & 6 great great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Turner and 8 brothers, and 3 sisters.

Pallbearers to serve are Chad Raines, Jason Kirby, Kyle Turner, Jimmy Reecer, Billy Schepke, Zach Raines, Randy Rost, Bryan Kriby, and Jarrett Kirby.

I too lost mine years and years ago but I have never forgotten what all she thought me, all the best summer memories I had as a kid at her house.
