Edward Mathue DeBakey
January 11, 1923 - October 7, 2018

Edward M. DeBakey, 95, of Fort Dodge passed away Sunday, October 7, 2018 at Friendship Haven in his sleep.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 11th, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Corpus Christi Church. Burial will take place at Corpus Christi Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the V.F.W. Post 1856 and the U.S. Army Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM till 10:30 AM on Thursday at the church. Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home is serving the family.
He is survived by his daughter, Nanette (Mike) Donlin of Miller, SD; his son, Michael (Tammy) DeBakey of Sedalia, CO; grandchildren, Erin Donlin (Robert Tenwinkel), Kevin (Angela) Donlin, Ben DeBakey, Michael (Kaci) DeBakey; and 6 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Imogene, and 6 siblings.
Edward Mathue DeBakey was born on January 11, 1923 in Kewanee, IL; to Toufeek and Najeeba (Rashid) DeBakey. As an infant the family moved to Fort Dodge where he lived for most of his life. Ed attended Corpus Christi Catholic School and later transferred to Fort Dodge Senior High School and graduated in 1940. While attending Iowa State University he enlisted in the U.S. Army serving during WW II. After his honorable discharge he returned to Iowa State complete his engineering degree. On June 20, 1951 he was united in marriage to Imogene Doggett and to this union 2 children were born. Throughout most of his career Ed was a civil engineer. In his retirement, Ed enjoyed his winters in Florida and helping at Daniel Tire Shop. For the past 2 years he lived at Friendship Haven.
In Lieu of flowers memorials may be left to the charity of your choice in Ed's name.
