"My condolences to Marie, their family, and siblings on the passing of Jim. I consider him a dear friend and fondly remember the many nights and afternoons we spent hunting, cave exploring, and just hiking around the Whitewater Valley when we were young. I also have pleasant memories of visiting Jim and Marie after they moved to St. Charles. I treasure a diamond-willow staff that Jim gave me on one of those visits. May the Lord bless and welcome Jim and comfort his family. Larry Kieffer Cedar Falls, Iowa"

"Aunt Marie, Glenn, Dennis, Jeanie, Jay, Ted and Mike and families, Such wonderful memories of times at the farm with all of you bring me comfort. I hope those same memories will bring you all peace, smiles and hope in the days ahead. Uncle Jim always had a smile, a twinkle in his eye and the cutest giggle when you spent any time with him. I know the birds will sing in joy in the days ahead as God now has the best of help to assist him. Prayers and God?s blessings to you all."

Annie Holm wrote on Oct 10, 2018:

"Aunt Marie, Glenn, Dennis, Jean, Jay, Ted, and Mike my heartfelt condolences on the loss of your husband and father. What a beautifully written obituary and picture. Uncle Jim truly was a simple man who did not need materialistic things to make him happy. He had his deep faith and loved his family and farming the earth of his ancestors. I remember the sledding parties on the hill with the big tractor inner tubes, the hikes to the Monarch House and Gainey?s gold mine, the 4th of July picnics and the New Year?s Day picnics in the snow. The day of Uncle Jim?s passing I read an article in a church bulletin that stated, ? Passing from this life to the next is simply moving from one way of living in Jesus to another.? God was welcoming Uncle Jim home to eternal life. Uncle Jim is gone in physical form only. His spirit lives on in each and everyone of you. May you all continue to make him proud in your own unique ways. God?s Blessings to all. Annie Holm"
