Katherine P Kaltenbach

Katherine "Kay" Kaltenbach, 92, died Friday morning, October 5, 2018, in Deerfield Beach Florida. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri on March 22, 1926, to the late Athanasios and Mary Pachivas. Raised in St. Louis, she graduated from McKinley High School and attended Washington University and St. Louis University.
Kay worked for the Veterans Administration and Laclede Gas Company. She owned, operated and managed card and gift stores in St. Louis and St. Charles until her retirement. She was very active with the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in St. Louis and St. Mark Greek Orthodox Church in Boca Raton. Kay volunteered with the Greek Orthodox Youth Association (GOYA) at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and the Philoptochos Society at both churches.
An avid sports enthusiast, she enjoyed ice skating, fishing, tennis, swimming, and golf. She loved traveling and golfing with Jack, her late, and loving husband of 48 years. Kay was energetic and fun loving. Her favorite vacation activity was to walk the long stretches of Daytona Beach. A resident of The Palms at Deer Creek for 21 years, she relished her friends and always looked forward to playing poker, bridge, bingo, bocce games, and going to the casino. Above all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Kay is survived by her children: Mary Mann and her husband Bob Mann of Lauderdale by the Sea, Gloria Blackburn of Delray Beach, John Kaltenbach and his wife Lucinda Kaltenbach of Atlanta, GA; her grandchildren, Alex, Skylar, Harrison, Garrett, Wallis, and Jace; as well as many nieces and nephews. Kay was predeceased by her brothers John and George Pachivas and her grandson Clayton Blackburn. Kay's family would like to thank her grandson Alex and daughter Gloria for the exceptional care given to her during the time of her illness.
Family and friends may call on Thursday, October 11, 2018, from 10:00 am to 12 pm at the Horizon Funeral Home, 4650 North Federal Highway, Lighthouse Point, FL 33064. Her funeral service will be celebrated Thursday, October 11, 2018, at 1:00 pm at St. Mark's Greek Orthodox Church, 2100 NW 51st Street, Boca Raton, FL 33431. The service will be followed by a burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 200 West Copans Road, Pompano Beach, FL 33064.
