In loving memory of

Darlene Esther Osborn
December 18, 1929 - October 8, 2018

It is with great sadness that the family of Darlene Esther Osborn announces her passing on Monday, October 8th, 2018, at the age of 88.

Darlene was born December 18, 1929 in Springfield, Ohio. She attended Wittenberg University and graduated with a major in Education. She married the love of her life Harold Eugene Osborn Junior (Gene) on 8/27/51. She and Gene began their ministry at a church in Delaware Ohio, then Columbia, South Carolina, and then moved to South Florida to start the First Wesleyan Church of Hollywood along with her in-laws. Her life in Florida was full of love and compassion for people.

Darlene spent her lifetime serving her Lord and Savior and in commitment to others. At church she was the Pastor's wife, song leader, Sunday School teacher and even vacation bible school director. She was an elementary school teacher her entire career for Broward Public Schools and the Columbia South Carolina school system. She retired when her grandchildren were born and was the best day care provider ever.

Darlene enjoyed raising orchids and traveling. She covered a lot of ground in the United States in an RV camper, visiting all but two states on the mainland. Later she traveled to the Holy land and Europe, tracing the steps of the Apostles Paul and John and visiting significant historical sites of the early church. She was always amazed by God's creation of natural beauty in our National Parks. In her later life she remained a voracious reader of all things religious and historical.

Darlene will be lovingly remembered by her sons Stephen and Chip Osborn, their wives Alison and Kathy and her grandchildren: Nicholas, Daniel, Stephen Jr, Matthew, Catherine and Sarah Cait.

To continue Darlene's spirit of giving, in lieu of flowers we ask donations be given to the American Bible Society @ https://www.americanbible.org/

"A wonderful woman! What more could I say? She was a second mom to all of us. Her faith was an inspiration to all. Her love for her family and her husband were unsurpassed. I am a better person for having known Mr. and Mrs. Osborn, and their family. I can still see them singing Amazing Grace on Sunday morning. Now they are home together. Love to all of the friends and family. Michael Grimm "

"I have fond memories of the Wesleyan Church of Hollywood and Darlene was big influence in shaping my life and making me a better person. Her love for Jesus and her spirituality was contagious. I will always miss the sound of her voice as she sang with such passion from the hymnal. My favorite memory was going to her house after church for supper. She always had a fantastic meal prepared. I know that she loved to teach children. She gave so much to so many for so little. I know she is in heaven and I will always cherish the memories. "
