Joan S. Koutnik

Joan S. Koutnik, of Antigo, died Friday, October 12, 2018, at Rosalia Gardens under the care of LeRoyer Hospice. She was 87 years old. She was born on October 12, 1931, in Antigo, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Selma (Hubbard) Schacher. She married Kortland Koutnik on October 23, 1954, at St. John Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on October 13, 2013.

She attended St. John Catholic Grade School and graduated from Antigo High School with the class of 1949.

She was a secretary for the University of Wisconsin in the Marathon and Marinette offices. She also was a secretary for the DNR office and at Waidelich and Maly Insurance office both in Antigo.

She enjoyed dancing, listening to her husband play in various bands and working with the community theater.

Survivors include a daughter, Laurie (Brian) Blink of Antigo; two sons, Michael "Dean" (special friend Georgia Masco) Koutnik of Schofield, Darren (Dana) Koutnik of Appleton; four grandchildren, Courtney (Adam) Goetsch, Adam Koutnik, Andrew Blink and Thomas Blink; a step-granddaughter, Tatum Schaff; two sisters, Valeria Rozga of Waukesha and LeeAnne Schacher of Antigo; a brother, Eugene (Joanne) Schacher; and two sisters-in-law, Clara Jean Schacher and Joan E. Koutnik both of Antigo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kortland Koutnik; two brothers, Frank and Donald Schacher; and a brother-in-law, Jake Koutnik.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at 11 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Hoffmann officiating. Burial will take place in Queen of Peace Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, October 15 at the Bradley Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. and Tuesday, October 16 at St. John Catholic Church in Hoffmann Hall from 10 to 11 a.m.

A parish wake service will be held on Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
