In loving memory of

Edna G Huskey
February 19, 1943 - October 10, 2018

Edna Garcez Huskey, 75, of Kirkland, WA, passed away from natural causes in her home on October 10, 2018, with family by her side.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 29, 2018, at Holy Family Parish in Kirkland, WA. All are welcome. A reception will immediately follow.

Edna was born in Glendale, AZ, on February 19, 1943. She graduated from Glendale High School where she loved being a member of the marching band, and she continued on to receive her Secretarial Certificate from Lamson Business College in Phoenix. She and her brothers and sister were raised in Glendale their entire childhood, in the special adobe house built by their father; her loving parents instilled a deep love of family, faith, traditions and community in their four children.

Edna was a dedicated, loving, fun and generous-hearted stay-at-home mom to her four children. As a Navy wife, she juggled 4 kids, the household and the adventures of at least six moves within 14 years from Arizona to Long Beach, CA, to Adak, AK, to San Diego, CA and finally, to Kirkland, WA, where she lived for the last 38 years. She was also known as "mom Huskey" to many friends of her children. She was the most loving and fun grandmother to her three grandchildren, spoiling them every chance she got. She was happiest when her house was full of kids and grandkids. It was especially full at the holidays when she made her traditional homemade tamales.

When her youngest started school, she worked as a Secretary for the Lake Washington School District for 14 years, allowing her to be home with her kids for all school breaks. She later worked for Holland America Cruise Lines and the City of Seattle before she retired. She made special friends everywhere she went. She loved having fun with her friends and family, whether she was playing games, playing the penny machines at the local casino, catching a show or concert, or having spirited conversations about politics on Facebook. She could be feisty, but always in good fun.

Edna is survived by her children Deborah "Debbi" Huskey, Theresa "Terri" Bell (Mike), Lisa Hicks, and Gary Huskey; her grandchildren Jake Hicks, Cameron and Lauren Bell; her brothers Gene Garcez (Rose and the late Janet) and Marcelino Garcez Jr (Anna); her sister Mary Belia Spencer (Bill); her many nieces and nephews and extended family; her former husband and father of her children, Ralph Huskey; and many dear friends.
Edna is preceded in death by her parents, Marcelino Garcez, Sr, and Edna Durand Garcez.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and/or the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation.

Ana (Lupe) Garcez wrote on Oct 15, 2018:

"My Aunt Chata (as Edna was known to us nieces and nephews) was such a beautiful person! My favorite childhood memories are full of her presence and I will miss her so dearly. Words can't describe my sorrow for my cousins, Debbi, Terri, Lisa and Gary and for my parents and Aunt Belia and Uncle Gene, but I know in my heart we will all see her beautiful smile again in heaven. RIP to you my beautiful Tia. "
