Pearl Kasten
December 7, 1944 - October 13, 2018

Pearl Kasten Age 73 of Shawano passed away on Saturday, October 13th, 2018, after a courageous battle with liver cancer at The Bay at Eastview in Antigo. She was born Pearl Mary Brennecke on December 7, 1944, in Antigo to the late Otto and Ethel (Schabell) Brennecke. She was united in marriage on December 7, 1964, to Roger William Kasten in Dubuque, Iowa. He survives.
She was a 1964 graduate of Antigo High School.

After their marriage, Roger and Pearl moved to Bowler, Wisconsin where they owned and operated a family dairy farm, while farming Pearl also worked for the Mattoon Mill. After farming, she left the Mill and went to work with Roger and the family logging in the woods. She was also employed at Zwicker Knitting Mills, Shawano.

Pearl had many hobbies some of which included knitting, crocheting, card making, and quilting. She was a member of the Shawano Quilting Guild. She enjoyed traveling and visiting new places. She also looked forward to her yearly trip to Shanty Days in Algoma, Wisconsin.

She valued time spent with family. She was a devoted wife, terrific mother, proud grandma and great-grandma. Whether it was going to the casino, attending school music programs, or just going out to eat all you had to do was call and she would be there.

Survivors include her husband, Roger Kasten of Shawano; three daughters, Tammy (John) Crowell of Wittenberg, Victoria (Kirk) Malueg of Wittenberg and Kristin (Jeremy) Kasten-Kania of Wittenberg; two sons, Terry (Vickie) Kasten of Wausau and John (Lori) Kasten of Birnamwood; 14 grandchildren, Tanya (Zeke) Jones, Jamie Lecher, Jessica Kasten, Kassandra Kasten, Terra (Logan) Calmes, Dakota and Chase Crowell, Kyle Fandrey, Sawyer and Noah Malueg, Holden Kasten, Joshua Kania, Grissom and Cohen Kasten-Kania; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Michaletz of Rio Creek and Betty (James) Fonder of Antigo; two brothers, Robert Brennecke of Mattoon and Carl (Carol) Brennecke of Mattoon; five sisters-in-law, Betty Ann Bowers of Sturgeon Bay, Marie (Ted) Salgado of Milwaukee, Judy (Chuck) Aldrian of Eau Claire, Ruthie (Sonnie) San Diego of Milwaukee and Esther (Mike) Wiercinski of Pulaski; a brother-in-law, Fred (Jane) Kasten of Omro; a special God daughter, Bridgett Kinjerski of Algoma; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley in infancy; two brothers, William and Eugene in infancy, two sisters-in-law, Susie and Lorena; three brothers-in-law, John, James, and Dean.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 19, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Bradley Funeral Home, Antigo, with Pastor Tom Myhre officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

I will miss her when I would call her and tell her I was in shawano she would come and we would have breakfast or lunch. Also we would go to green bay or Wausau.
