Joseph A. Carta, age 58, of Seaside Heights passed away on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at his home.

Born in Belleville, NJ, Joseph grew up in the Lavallette and Ortley Beach area. He was a graduate of Point Pleasant Beach High School and chose to follow in his father's footsteps at their family pizzeria in Lavallette, Peppe's Pizza. After the business was sold, Joseph then opened his own pizzeria Joe Peppe's Pizza II in Seaside Heights. Always doing for others rather than himself, he was always there to lend a helping hand to his family and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents Antonio Carta and Theresa Klein. Surviving is his daughter Briana Ülker/Carta; granddaughters Seyana and Sophiia; mother of his child Janice, twin sister Donna Di Mola and her husband Donato; brother Anthony Carta and his wife Gayle; nephew Anthony Carta; nieces Diana Daly and her husband James and Gioia Carta and her son Nino; close friend Janet and many other loving family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2018 from 2PM to 4PM at Horizon Funeral & Cremation Services, 1329 Route 37 West, Toms River. Cremation will be private.

"My brother, it's been two weeks ago today when we received the heart breaking phone call of your passing. There's not a moment in the day that you're not in my thoughts. Each day is difficult for there's always something that I come across that brings me back to the days of 1981 to present. We had some great times and time's when we faced adversities head on. One thing I'll miss the most is the loyalty we had between us. It was an honor to be your brother. I pray that your resting comfortably in the kingdom of God. You shall always be rembered as "Joe Pepe " a man with a heart of gold that would give you the shirt off his back. I'll never forget the memories we had of Diana when she was a little girl on Christmas Day. I recall when you would bring over bags of groceries to our apartment when I didn't have a job.
