Sharon Lee Fortner, 63, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, June 5, 2014, from a long illness. Private services will be held for the family. A Celebration of Life & potluck for family and friends will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2014, at 1:00 pm at Kirkwood Estates Mobile Home Park Recreation Center, 615 Miller Ave Dr SW, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include husband, Gary Fortner; siblings, Janet Reddick of Cedar Rapids, Charles (Linda) Long of Lisbon, Alice Fitzpatrick of Cedar Rapids, Thomas Long of Belle Plaine, Linda Wilson of Mt. Home, AR, Debbie Aswegan (Lloyd) of Hillsboro, OR, Mike (Pat) Fink of Deloit and Tony Berger of Ryan;Foster mom, Milly Ebel of Spencer; Sister-in-law Sharon (Jeff) Spooner of Cedar Rapids; along with several nieces and nephews.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents Algy Long and Clara Josephine Keefe; and sister Betty Matheson.
Born, May 4, 1951, in McGregor, IA. On June 15, 1984, she was united in marriage to Gary Fortner in Cedar Rapids. Sharon worked at City Wide Cleaners for 31 years.
Sharon lived for her husband and family, always with lots of love, care, and laughs. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, reading, and doing word puzzles. She was a friend to ALL and knew no strangers, she had a love for life.
