In loving memory of

Patty Lange Burt
April 26, 1965 - October 24, 2018

Patricia Kae (Lange) Burt, 53 of Utica passed away peacefully at home October 24, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Patty began her courageous fight against stage 4 brain and lung cancer in 2013. Even though chemo, radiation and her surgeries may have worn her down, it never took her spirit or defined her. She always kept that smile on her face. She will be remembered for her beauty, contagious smile and her kindness and generosity for others.

Patty was born April 26, 1965 in Rochester to Paul and JoAnn
(Boettcher) Lange. She attended both Lewiston/Altura School and St. Charles. Graduating from St. Charles High School in 1983. After graduating she worked for Winona County as a Flag Person for traffic control, then went on to working at Hubbard turkey plant in Altura. From there she went to Camera Arts/Herff Jones where she was employed for nineteen years until they closed their doors 2008. Then in 2010 she started at the St. Charles High School as one of their lunch aids and in 2013 she resigned in order to spend her time and energy managing her health and spending time with her family. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lewiston.

On July 13, 1985 she married her soul mate, Kenneth M. Burt in Utica.
Shortly after they were blessed with a daughter, Ashlee Ann. 3 years later they were blessed again, this time with a son, Joshua Paul Merlin. Later came their beautiful grandson, Carter Joshua Burt, the light of her life. On August 20, 2013 Patty was diagnosed with stage 4
brain and lung cancer. Her last 5 years have been a gift to she and her family. Throughout the past few years she had been known as "Rockstar" because of her faith, hope and fight. Patty enjoyed spending her summers off with her kids and grandson. She loved going to Mexico each spring with family, camping, photography, playing games, farming, shopping, socializing (of course) and any kind of construction, because she looked good in a tool belt! Her favorite part of her day was spending it with her grandson, Carter Jo and taking little trips here and there. Her family was her pride and joy.
She will be remembered as saying "Family equals love." Her most important and rewarding job was being a mom and nana. She loved this more than anything.

Patty was survived by her husband, Kenneth of Utica; children, Ashlee (Chaz Stark) Burt of Utica, Joshua (Mariah) Burt of Fremont; one grandson, Carter Burt; sister's Paula (Mike) Stevens, Penny (Bob) Weis, Julie (Jim) Coleman; brother, Daniel (Adriana) Lange; Parents, Paul (JoAnn) Lange; sister in laws, Kim Alvarez, Kristie (Gene) Burt, Keri (Shelly) Gerth; brother in laws, Kevin (Diane) Burt, Kerm (Christine) Burt, Kyle (DeAnn) Burt; father and mother in law, Bozy (JoAnn) Burt and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Patty was proceeded in death by both paternal and maternal grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins and brother in law, Tino Alvarez.

"Kenny and family, I first met Patty when I moved to Utica in 1984. In fact, I met most of the Lange family - Patty and her sisters and her parents. I was struck by how close and loving the family was. I don't think I saw her without at least a sister or parent by her side. Looking through all the photos, it seems that love continued throughout her life. Paul, I know how much your entire family means to you. With Patty and her family living right next door to you, I'm sure you had a special bond that will be hard to break even with Patty's passing. My sincerest condolences to all of you. Bonnie Denzer, Utica"

"Patty was special to so many people! I wasn't gifted of knowing her until the Cancer support group. Those five years flew by so fast. I am so happy to know she was surrounded by such great love of her family and friends. She will never be forgotten but will, instead, bring a smile to one's face whenever she is thought of. Her heart was golden all the way through. Her love for her family was always there for all to see! What a great honor to know this wonderful, giving soul. She wanted to be there so bad for Carter for every time he gets off the bus. But her spirit will always be by his side?no matter what. "
